To All Delta Residents;

“A look ahead for the remainder of 2020”

Greetings,

With spring soon to be here, the Village is preparing for a busy year. With many projects in the works, we want to highlight some of those as well as anticipated impacts to the community.

In preparation of the Ohio Department of Transportation’s scheduled resurfacing project in 2021, which includes Main Street through town, as well as Madison Street south from Main Street to the bridge over Bad Creek, you will see improvements being made by the Village this year to avoid disruption of the new asphalt later. The most significant project will be replacement of sidewalks through downtown extending from Wood to Adrian Streets. There will also be some curb and drainage repairs along both Main and Madison Streets outside of the downtown area.

In addition to Main Street improvements, resurfacing of Monroe Street along with needed drainage work originally scheduled for 2019 will be completed this year. Bids for the resurfacing of Adrian Street will be received late in March. Anticipating those are within budget, Adrian Street will also be resurfaced this year.

Village Council recently authorized the submission of applications for grant / loan funds through the US Department of Agriculture for the total rebuilding of Fernwood Street between Wood and Taylor Streets. This project would entail, new water and sanitary sewer lines, improved drainage system with curbs and gutter as well as new walks. The estimate for this project is currently $3.3 million dollars. Through this program the village would realize grant funds of $1.3M and a 40-year loan at 1.2% fixed interest for the remainder of funding. If approved construction could begin in 2021.

In our continued efforts to better communicate with village residents, we have enhanced our village website, increased the utilization of Facebook and Twitter and most recently announced the Civic Alert System. This program is a cooperative effort with the Fulton County Commissioners providing another means of communicating with residents.

The Civic Alert System will be utilized by the Village for posting information, alerting individuals of situations and general notifications of public interest.
Enclosed with this correspondence is the flyer explaining the program. Residents who wish to take advantage of the program will be required to sign up for the service. Anyone needing assistance with this can contact Marlena Allwood at the Village offices or by phone at 419-822-3220 X102.

Zoning compliance personnel will actively continue drive by inspections this year with a focus on enforcing property appearance and noted problems seen from the street and alleys. Those violations typically include; tall grass, junk, debris/garbage and disabled vehicles. Should your property have any of these violations present, letters will be sent asking for your assistance in remedying any issue. This will be an ongoing effort to improve the attractiveness of Delta while enhancing and maintaining property values for everyone.

To assist with cleaning up our community Village Council has scheduled the annual spring unlimited pickup, with the Village assuming the cost of this program. Enclosed is a flyer from Archbold Refuse Service outlining the program and the collectible materials. Unlimited pickup will be Saturday, June 13, 2020 with collection beginning at 7:00 a.m. It is recommended all residents have anything to be picked up at the curb Friday evening. ARS crews will make one trip through town, once they pass your property they do not return.

This year will also bring a significant amount of construction activities associated with new industrial growth surrounding the 109 Industrial Corridor. With the expansion of existing businesses, as well as, new businesses beginning construction, 2020 will be a banner year for Delta. This continued growth brings new revenue and opportunities for everyone. We appreciate our new business partners and what they provide for Delta. Without them we would not be able to share the many improvements we are planning for the benefit of everyone.

Should you have questions regarding any of these programs please contact the village offices for more information.

Sincerest regards from the Village of Delta elected officials;

Bob Gilbert, Mayor

Frank Wilton, Council President Lynn Frank, Council
